Become a Volunteer Official at the Red CentreNATS and experience Australia’s must-do Automotive Festival up close and personal! All that is required is your time.

We are always looking for new Volunteer Officials who want to get involved. There is a wide variety of roles available that are vital to the safety and success of the event, allowing you to develop your skills and meet like-minded people. There are positions where no experience is necessary, so become a Volunteer Official and get a taste of the Red CentreNATS action!

Red CentreNATS is held from 30 August until 1 September, with important roles available from 28 August for one or all of those days. A welcome and training night is also held on Tuesday 27 August.

Available Roles

Do you enjoy organising and administration, or would you rather be a in the thick of the action on the driving events? There is a role to suit everyone!

The Driving Events Team work under the guidance of the Grass Driving Manager to assist, inform and guide Red CentreNATS entrants in their participation in and negotiation of the driving courses. Some administration work may also be included. Training will be provided where needed.

Under the guidance of the Scrutineering Manager, Chief Scrutineer and the Chief Steward, scrutineers will be required to check the Red CentreNATS entrant vehicles for compliance with the safety rules and regulations as required for participation in the Red CentreNATS. Basic motor vehicle safety knowledge will be required to competently work in this role.
Training will be provided where needed.

Under the guidance of the Scrutineering Manager, Chief Scrutineer and the Chief Steward, scrutineers will be required to check the Red CentreNATS entrant vehicles for compliance with the safety rules and regulations as required for participation in the Red CentreNATS. Basic motor vehicle safety knowledge will be required to competently work in this role.
Training will be provided where needed.

Under the guidance of the Scrutineering Manager, Chief Scrutineer and Chief Steward, the Traffic Marshalls will be required to assist the Entrants arriving to be scrutineered, in queueing up in an orderly and timely fashion. Whilst also ensuring pedestrian safety, and there is no obstruction to the general traffic flow.

Training will be provided where needed.

The Judges will work under the guidance of the Chief Judging Steward, to judge and score Red CentreNATS Entrant vehicles in key areas (paint, interior, engineering, etc), complete paperwork, and record details for each of the judged entrant vehicles as required.

Experienced automotive professionals, with areas of expertise (Automotive Trimmer, Spray Painter etc.) will be best suited in this position, as it requires specialised knowledge and close attention to detail within each area.

Training will be provided where needed.

The Show N Shine team will assist in the marshalling of Red CentreNATS Entrant vehicles as they arrive to the venue, ensuring of the orderly and safe line up of the cars throughout the Show N Shine area.

The Show N Shine team will also assist in guiding Entrants and their vehicles in the staging area prior to the Town Street Parade.

Training will be provided where needed.

The Fire and Rescue Team are the trained Fire & Rescue Marshals stationed in fire vehicles, or on foot at areas and events as required. These areas include but are not limited to – Burnouts, Drag Racing, Motorkhana, Grass Driving, and Scrutineering.

The Burnout Team will work under the guidance of the Burnouts Manager and Chief Steward to assist, inform and guide Red CentreNATS Entrants in their participation in and negotiation of the Burnout Pad. There will be a requirement for a number of volunteers to assist in the pre staging checks (correct attire, driver and passenger waivers are signed, fire suits are being worn where required etc.), as well as other tasks as required.

Training will be provided where needed.

The Drag Racing Team will work under the guidance of the Drag Racing Manager and Chief Steward to assist, inform and guide Red CentreNATS Entrants in their participation in the drag racing competition. Some of the tasks may include, timing, marshalling of cars within the staging area, general drags racing administration, and other areas or tasks as required.

Training will be provided where needed.

For those who have no preference in which area they would like to volunteer, who can fill in areas/ positions as required.

Volunteers with 4WD experience are encouraged to apply. You will need to be able bodied as some manual handling may be required, be agile enough to walk over difficult terrain, and have an eye for detail for recording scores as you follow a vehicle through the course. Understanding of 4WD recovery operations desirable but not essential.
