Apply for temporary registration and drive your normally unregistered vehicle on the streets of Alice Springs. If you have entered in Red CentreNATS, you can apply (some restrictions apply)! Note that you must have a current full driver’s licence to apply. How to apply: You will need to complete the Temporary Registration Form and return it to PO Box 106, Mitchell ACT 2911 prior to 19 August 2017. Alternatively, bring your completed form with you to Registration at Lasseters Centre for Entertainment. Note that your Temporary Licence will not be processed or approved until your vehicle has been scrutineered at Registration. Please ensure your vehicle meets the minimum requirements outlined in the Temporary Licence Terms and Conditions prior to applying. Where can I drive my car once I have the Temporary Licence? There are three designated cruise routes for drivers with a Temporary Licence. Dependent on the conditions placed on your Temporary Licence will determine the cruise route you will be given access to. What does a Temporary Licence cost? If the vehicle meets the minimum standards a Temporary Licence fee will be payable. The fee amount will be advertised after 1 July 2017 and is payable at Registration. As a guide the current fee is $46.35 however an incremental increase may occur prior to 1 September 2017. This fee will be payable direct to Northern Territory Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR). If issued, you will be required to carry the Temporary Licence at all times while driving the unregistered vehicle. These Temporary Licences are applied per Entrant per vehicle (each driver of a vehicle will need an individual Temporary Licences).
