Who can enter?
All entrants must hold a current, unrestricted, unsuspended driver’s licence. We check these too, so be honest.
Learner drivers are not permitted to be entrants. Drivers with provisional licenses are permitted to enter however, restrictions applied to the license conditions in the state of issue still apply.
Entrants under the age of 18 years must have a parent or guardian’s consent to participate.
Vehicle Requirements
Entrants are renowned for having some of the toughest highly modified cars and their owners take ultimate pride in them.
Have a sweet whip 30yrs or older and in original condition? You qualify as well!
Vehicle requirements include:
- Paint and body modifications
- Engine performance upgrades and engine bay presentation
- Custom fabrication
- Wheel, suspension and brake upgrades
- Custom interior, including aftermarket car audio components
Scrutineering Minimum Requirements
Scrutineering is where the judging process begins. Before all entrants take part, our crew will check your car for safety and any competition-based requirements.
These checks include;
- Working lights
– head, tail, brake, indicators - Valid full license
– must be present, current and valid. No learner’s permits - Current registration
– where the numberplate matches the VIN, or purchase of event permit Fire extinguisher – for competition vehicles a minimum of a 1kg charged dry chemical extinguisher securely mounted within the vehicle cabin - Wheel nuts on all studs
– wheel weights must be removed for competition - Wheel guards
– if wheels protrude the body of the car (generally in a hot rod style vehicle), the car must be fitted with wheel guards - Treaded tyres
– no visible belts, canvass or flat spots, in serviceable condition - Functioning brakes
– functioning brakes must be fitted - Seatbelts
– fitted correctly and functioning for all seats - Seats
– secured and functioning with working seatbelts - Tail shaft loop
– must be fitted for any drag racing activities that require it Fitted exhaust – a continuous system that extend past the last vehicle door or to the axle line, any exhaust protruding on the side of the vehicle must point down. Open headers are permitted during burnout competition only. - Complete firewalls
– isolating driver from engine compartment and fuel tank/cell. Includes station wagons and vans with fuel cells in the back of the vehicle. - Fuel tanks and cells
– tanks and cells must be separated from the cabin, of purpose-built construction, fixed securely with correct brackets i.e., no ratchet straps or temporary fixtures. - Fuel lines and fillers
– must be designed for automotive use and appropriately rated for the fuel being used. - Secure battery
- Functioning inhibitor switch for automatics
– mustn’t start in gear. - Blower belt guard
– for all blowers protruding from a bonnet. - Bonnet
– exception made for during burnout competition. Belt guards must be fitted to all blowers, whenever bonnet is removed for competition.
Restricted Entry
The following are examples of cases in which restricted access may be necessary;
- Entrants who cannot prove full registration
- Highly modified cars without an engineer’s certificate
- Purpose-built, unregistered, fully sign-written race cars
- Promotional vehicles
Entrant vehicles that don’t meet the safety requirements due to extensive modifications i.e. purpose-built nitro drag car, will be approved for entry but not permitted to participate in all events or cruise.
Sponsored Vehicles
Vehicles with paintwork or windscreens displaying excessive sponsor branding, advertising or marketing material are considered commercial participants and additional fees may be charged upon application approval.
Driver and Passenger Seating Rule for Cruising
All vehicle seats must be fixed in place to an automotive industry acceptable standard, guidance information can be found in the Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 (VSB14).
All occupants must be seated with an approved seatbelt securely fitted whilst the vehicle is in motion.
